01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

When you want both good drinks and a proper meal in a relaxed setting, Dining Bar Sun on the fourth floor of a Ginza building makes a reliable stop. While offering the subdued comfort of a classic bar, it also features table seating where guests can converse freely without feeling rushed.

The drinks list is remarkably varied. Single malt Scotch alone includes the likes of Bowmore 12 Year, Laphroaig 10 Year, and Macallan 12 Year. The bar also mixes short classic cocktails such as Gimlets and Martinis, serves easy highballs and Moscow Mules, and keeps an international line of bottled beers, from Blue Moon to Hoegaarden White, so there is always a pour to match your mood.

Equally appealing is the substantial food menu. Alongside light bar bites like mixed olives and Camembert with crackers, the kitchen turns out warm plates such as jidori fried chicken and house fish and chips. Heartier mains like garlic pizza with anchovy and tomato, old-fashioned spaghetti Napolitan, and nostalgic omurice make this an easy place to start your evening with dinner.

Open until 5:00 the following morning on weekdays, the bar works just as smoothly for a late-night session as it does for a gathering with friends.
